Arizona ist berühmt für seine vielen Wüstenlandschaften und seine Canyons. Der Grand-Canyon-Nationalpark, der zum Welterbe in den Vereinigten Staaten gehört, befindet sich im Nordwesten, das Canyon de Chelly National Monument im Nordosten. Im Osten liegt der Petrified-Forest-Nationalpark und im Süden der Saguaro-Nationalpark.
An der Staatsgrenze zu Utah befindet sich außerdem noch das Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, zu dem u. a. der zweitgrößte Stausee der USA Lake Powell und die Hufeisenkehre des Colorado Rivers der Horseshoe Bend gehören.
